Hollywood former sex addict and movie star has revealed that his throat cancer was cause by cunnilingus (oral sex) after many years pleasuring women. Three years he was diagnosed with throat cancer and it was originally attributed to his hard partying lifestyle of cigarettes and alcohol, however it seems that his penchant for pleasuring women may in fact be the cause.
Douglas stated: “This particular cancer is caused by HPV which actually comes about from cunnilingus.”
Back in the 1990’s it was reported that he was hospitalised for some form of addiction, however he never officially stated what it was for, it was widely speculated to be for sex addiction. He was known to be quite a ladies man and during his marriage to his first wife Diandra Luker it had been reported that he was not all that faithful.
In August 2010 Douglas announced that he was suffering from throat cancer, he confirmed that he was suffering from stage IV throat cancer which is was the most advanced stage and that he was to undergo throat chemotherapy and radiation treatment. Treatment was aggressive and caused him to lose a huge amount of weight however in January 2011 during an interview; he stated that his tumour had gone.
The revelation that his throat cancer was caused by cunnilingus; in what was rather a frank interview came as a surprise to many because his cancer in the past had been attributed to smoking and drinking. However the human papillomavirus (HPV) was the actual cause and smoking and drinking only made the situation worse rather than being the cause.
HPV is an infection which can have serious effects on health if left untreated; it is the second most common type of sexually transmitted infection. There are over 100 different strains and although some HPV infections cause no real symptoms and even clear up on their own, some strains do pose significant health risks including cancer in both men and women.
HPV can easily be spread especially if you have multiple sexual partners in the case of Michael Douglas if the rumours are to be believed. They can be spread from vaginal or anal sex as well as oral sex and sharing sex toys. It can be spread by non-penetrative sex as well, because HPV is simple spread from skin to skin contact.
