Miami Heat’s LeBron James marries; Jay Z and Beyonce attend San Diego ceremony

To quote San Diego legend and respected newsman Ron Burgundy, when Jay-Z and Beyoncé fly in to sing at your wedding, you’re “kind of a big deal.”
A performance by the two pop icons on Saturday night highlighted the wedding celebration of Heat star LeBron James and longtime girlfriend Savannah Brinson, who shared vows in always-classy San Diego with family and friends.
And, so, Miami’s king now has a queen.
About 200 people attended the ceremony, which was held at San Diego-area resort Grand Del Mar Hotel. The hotel is considered one of the best in the world. Per the property’s website, the Grand Del Mar Hotel is “serenely nestled amidst Los Peñasquitos Canyon Preserve” and “seamlessly combines the old-world charm of a Mediterranean estate with the modern luxury of an elegant resort.”
The constant hovering of local TV helicopters apparently detracted little from the ceremony’s ambiance, which was hidden from view under very large event tents. Guests were ushered into the hotel under umbrellas. The highly anticipated wedding was very secretive.
James and his wife, who have two children together and live in Coconut Grove, began dating when they were high school. James proposed in the early morning hours on New Year’s Day in 2012 on Miami Beach.
Dwyane Wade and Chris Bosh were among James’ teammates who attended the wedding. Ray Allen, Udonis Haslem and others also were on the guest list. Heat coach Erik Spoelstra, team president Pat Riley and team owner Micky Arison were in attendance. There was a rumor circulating on Sunday that cellphones were not allowed in the ceremony.
Around 2 a.m. on Sunday morning, Arison tweeted his support for the matrimonial union.
“What a beautiful wedding,” Arison wrote. “Congratulations to @KingJames and his beautiful wife @SavannahRB. #happiness #forever”
Jay-Z and Beyoncé performed their 2003 hit Crazy In Love, according to U.S. Weekly. Beyoncé, on tour in Brazil, flew in Saturday despite being scheduled to perform in Rio De Janeiro on Friday and Sao Paolo on Sunday.
It has been a busy wedding season for the Heat. Earlier this summer, Udonis Haslem was married in Palm Beach County.
Of course, the event wasn’t without some classic wedding-day hijinks. The party van that transported Wade and girlfriend Gabrielle Union to the wedding had a flat tire en route to the celebration. Wade posted a photo and a funny video of the incident on Twitter.
“This is what happens when u drive to San Diego… #flattirelife #wemaynotmakethewedding,” Wade wrote.
He then added: “Smh it takes forever to fix a flat... And ppl always want pictures… #grrrr #whyyy #thisdayis2funny…”
Several celebrities of the athletic and entertainment variety were on the guest list, including Ne-Yo, Drake, Chris Paul and Carmelo Anthony.
The wedding celebration began Friday evening with a relaxing cookout. A “farewell brunch” was scheduled for Sunday
